I am delighted to teach art classes at Swinton's! I have a passion for teaching and kids, and am sure that we are all going to have a terrific art-making time together. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. Probably like most of you, I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. I was lucky to attend an arts-focussed high school and went from there York University, where I completed an Honours degree in Fine Arts specializing in Visual Arts and Art History. I am a practicing artist and juggle painting time with raising my own four kids. My paintings are mostly oil and acrylic these days; colourful and energetic, and cover a wide realm of subject matter. I both show and sell my work and am working hard to amass a collection large enough for a solo show soon. I have been teaching art to young people for almost 20 years. (That makes me ancient!) I have taught art all over Calgary, including the Family Leisure Centre and classes In both the Catholic and Separate School Boards. I have taught and evaluated the high school art curriculum through Alberta Distance Learning and have enjoyed students from preschool age right through to adults. Painting is both a passion and a mission for me, a way to communicate energy and environment through the continual growth process that art-making is. I hope that each student I work with will progress at his or her own pace while learning and experimenting on projects that they are passionate about as well! Currently teaching:{MONTHLY CLASSES}
