Experience the pleasure of putting brush marks on canvas … without labouring overdrawing and measuring. This workshop is for all levels of artists who wish to learn to paint a portrait of their favourite pet! We’ll simplify a complex photo using preliminary studies and exercises before painting a larger studio painting. We will touch on all the ‘simple ideas’ that Bobbi emphasizes in her teaching: “logical ideas” .. the nuts and bolts necessary to build a strong, beautiful painting; and ideas that will help take the mystery out of painting animals and add the magic you are seeking. Ideas that will take your work to the next level - no matter the genre. You’ll learn how to tell a story with distinctive brushwork and brave paint application; learn to “push ideas”, and look for “possibilities” in your work, and using our studies, bring your studio painting to life. All the elements of a strong painting will be emphasized and explored; from creating a concept to abstract design, the fundamentals: shape, value, edges, paint quality/colour... and more. To start this 2-Day Workshop, Bobbi will do a painting demonstration while explaining her process and answering all your questions. You can look for lots of personal guidance throughout the weekend.
