Date & Time: September 16th – 20th, 2025 5 days 1 evening of instruction. There will be a meet and greet on September 15th in the evening and a wrap-up show/meal is planned for the evening of the 20th. There will be an early morning session as well as an evening session (weather-dependent). One day the focus will be photography. Just a short ferry ride from Victoria, BC, this serene yet rugged island is the perfect place for a Plein Air Adventure! Join Doug Swinton and Sue Contini for a non-stop art holiday filled with painting, photography, and sightseeing—you might even spot a whale or two! Workshop Overview This plein air workshop runs from Tuesday to Saturday, where you’ll paint directly from life, capturing the island’s diverse beauty. From rocky shores and towering trees to boats, barns, and charming buildings, Salt Spring Island has it all. Each morning begins with a lesson, followed by a full day of brush-wielding bliss at various scenic locations. With two instructors providing one-on-one guidance, you’ll receive expert support throughout the retreat. Mid-week, we’ll enjoy a wine and cheese critique, fueling your creativity for the days ahead. On Saturday, we’ll visit the famous Salt Spring Island Market, paint at the nearby marina, and wrap up the retreat with a group dinner and live local music. Join the Adventure!
